Delicious sheet cake that’s fast to mix up and loaded with good stuff! Great to take along to a meeting or party.
Cream oil and sugar; add eggs and one cup of the milk. Add vanilla. Combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda, and add to the creamed mixture alternating with the remaining cup of milk. Add chocolate chips and nuts. Pour into a 13×9″ pan and bake at 325 degrees for 35 minutes or until cake tests done.
Note: do not overbake this cake! I did it once and it was so disappointing. That is why the temperature is reduced a bit, but after 30 minutes, I would check it every couple of minutes until it passes the “toothpick” test.
Another thing I sometimes do is toss the chocolate chips and nuts with a small amount of flour before adding to the batter. This keeps them from sinking to the bottom, but it’s delicious even when they do.

I just made this this afternoon. It was delicious!! However, the middle of my cake didn’t cook….even after 40 minutes. It passed the toothpick test, and I took it out of the oven because the edges were getting super crispy, but the middle was light, and let it sit on top of the oven for 30 minutes hoping that it would firm up some. When it was completely cool, I tried to turn the pan over onto a decorating board so I could frost and decorate the cake, and that’s when I discovered the middle was not cooked through. Very sad. But it didn’t stop us from eating the edges
