Got this very easy recipe from an old neighbor. Great treat for the holidays or Mondays.
Melt butter in a heavy-bottomed pan. Add sugar, syrup and water. Boil until sugar dissolves. Continue soft boiling and stir frequently until it reaches 290 degrees. Pour into a sprayed foil-lined pan (15x10x1) and spread to the edges. Cool for 5 minutes.
Evenly sprinkle chocolate chips over the mixture and let set for 2 minutes. Spread chips out with spatula. Cover with almonds (optional) and set in the fridge for several hours to harden. Once it’s completely hardened, remove from the pan and break into pieces.
