Do you have one of those recipes that is perfect every time you make it? This pound cake is so simple, always delicious and a consistent crowd favorite. My mother-in-law gave me this recipe and I’ve made for the last 25 years. Everybody loves this cake. It’s perfect every time.
Preheat oven to 300ºF.
Cream butter, margarine and cream cheese until blended and smooth. Add sugar and mix until light and fluffy. Sift cake flour. Alternate adding cake flour and eggs, one at a time.
Grease and flour a bundt pan or 2 loaf pans. I use PAM for baking and am very happy with the results.
Pour batter into the bundt pan and bake at 300ºF for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Cool 30 minutes and turn out on a plate or cake stand. Sift powdered sugar on top or serve with diced fruit, ice cream or any sauce. Freezes great!

That looks so good. I live in strawberry country—–wouldn’t that be delicious?

I don’t know if it would change the cake to substitute butter for the margarine. I would love to know if you try – let me know how it turns out. I noted in my blog post that I’ve never changed this recipe – just didn’t need to. Many people ask about vanilla. I’ve never added that either. No need to mess with perfection! Ha ha – happy baking!

This looks delicious! Could butter be substituted for the margarine without altering the integrity of the cake?
