This is a great, moist coffee cake. This recipe was published in the local newspaper with my Aunt’s picture and she won a set of towels for the recipe. It’s a very old recipe, but it is soooooo very good. You can use any type of fruit filling you like. I have used apple, cherry, blueberry, pear and peach.You can use the can fillings or make your own. I make my own filling with apple, peach and pear as I would for a pie.
Beat butter; add sugar, then eggs, one at a time.
Add vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients. Blend in dry ingredients.
Reserve 1 ½ cups of dough.
Pour rest of batter in large greased cake pan (9×13). Spread pie filling on top and then drop reserved dough by the tsp. full on top of filling to make a pretty design.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 – 40 minutes. Cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
