Super easy cake for a child’s birthday party!
Leave one round cake intact. Cut shapes from the other cake, cutting them into the shape of a tail and top and bottom fins. I found it was much easier to cut the cake while it was frozen. So if you want to go this route, freeze the second cake while you work on your templates. To craft the fish extremities trace the cake pans onto waxed paper and cut out the circles. On one of the waxed paper circles sketch out the fins and tail then cut out the shapes, and play around with them laying the paper on your work surface until it starts to look like a fish. Once all of the templates are cut out of waxed paper lay the shapes over the second cake and trim the cake with a sharp knife.
Set the first cake onto your serving platter and put the tail and fins in place. Frost the cake with orange icing and decorate it with M&Ms and decorating gel. For the eye, cut a marshmallow in half and place a blue M&M in the center, secured with a little frosting.
