This has become one of my family’s favourite desserts. It is impressive and easy to whip up.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix together cake mix, half of the cherry pie filling, eggs, flavouring and chocolate chips. Beat until well-blended and the cherries are somewhat broken up. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan and bake for about 45 to 50 minutes or until it tests done. Cool slightly then remove to a cake plate to finish cooling.
Slice and garnish with a generous portion of pie filling, whipped cream and a cherry on top or some of Ree’s marvelous chocolate curls.
Note: there is no oil in the cake, yet it is very moist.
