This is the toffee recipe my family uses around Christmas. It is really simple, but all about timing. So I hope you enjoy it!
1. Put butter and sugar in a heavy saucepan and stir CONSTANTLY until golden brown (or the color of peanut butter). This should take anywhere from 10 to 25 minutes depending on what type of pan/skillet you use. Keep it on medium to medium-high heat.
2. Pour over chopped pecans in a 9 x 9 pan. DO NOT BUTTER THE PAN.
3. Put chocolate chips on top, while hot. Melt chips and spread.
4. Let it sit for 1/2 hour, then refrigerate for 1 hour. Cut (or break) into pieces.
