Description

This dessert is so fast and easy that you won’t believe your mouth when you taste it. It is best served hot out of the oven with vanilla ice cream or milk. This is a family favorite.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE FRUIT MIXTURE:
  • 4 cups Fruit, Either Rhubarb And Blackberries Or Just Peaches
  • ½ cups Sugar
  • ½ cups Water
  • _____
  • FOR THE BATTER:
  • ½ cups Melted Butter
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare the fruit mixture. Pour sugar and water over fruit and stir. Pour fruit mixture evenly into a 9×9 baking dish and set aside.

For the batter, whisk together melted butter, sugar, flour, milk and baking powder. Pour batter evenly over the fruit mixture.

Bake in a 350-degree oven for 1 hour. Serve cobbler warm with vanilla ice cream, or with milk and a sprinkle of nutmeg.

Hi Donna, next time you are using frozen fruit, you can reduce the amount of water you mix with the fruit, either to 1/4 cup or even less if that’s too much. I also reduce the amount of sugar in the fruit mixture if my fruit is really sweet on it’s own… like when I’m making a peach cobbler.

I tried this tonight for supper. It was very good. I think maybe I had a little too much juice from my blackberries. They were frozen. It still was pretty wonderful!
