Description

These decadent brownies have three luscious layers—the middle layer is up to you!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BASE:
  • 12 ounces, weight Hershey's Kisses
  • 4 ounces, fluid Hershey's Syrup (approximately)
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • ½ cups Butter
  • 4 whole Eggs
  • FOR THE MIDDLE LAYER:
  • 2-½ cups Powdered Sugar
  • ½ cups Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Water
  • ½ teaspoons Extract (mint, Rum, Almond, Etc.)
  • 5 drops Food Coloring (if Desired)
  • FOR THE TOP LAYER:
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 cup Dark Or Bittersweet Chocolate Chips

Preparation

Heat oven to 350 F. Grease a rectangular 13″ x 9″ x 2″ pan.

Unwrap the Kisses and place them in a glass measuring cup. Carefully melt them in the microwave, heating for 30 seconds at a time and stirring in between. Once melted, add enough Hershey’s chocolate syrup into the melted chocolate to measure 16 ounces. Set aside.

In a large bowl beat flour, sugar, butter, eggs and the Hershey’s Kisses/syrup until smooth. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until the top springs back when touched. Remove from oven. Cool for 30 minutes.

In the meantime, make the flavored layer. Combine the powdered sugar, butter, water (more if necessary) and your desired extract until smooth. Once brownies have cooled, pour/spread this over the brownies. Chill for 30 minutes.

In the meantime, make the chocolate layer by carefully melting the butter and chocolate chips in the microwave. Again, heat for 30 seconds at a time and stir between increments, continuing until smooth. Pour this over the flavored layer then allow it to cool until chocolate is firm.

Cut into small pieces—they are rich! Warning: these will not fare well outside on a hot day!
