This fluffy white icing is VERY similiar to the filling in a HoHo or DingDong (except better!) Place this icing on top of a Mayonnaise Cake and you’ll melt in your seat! See my TastyKitchen recipe box for my Mayonnaise Cake recipe.
Cook the flour and milk in a saucepan over medium-high heat until thick, stirring constantly. Once it thickens, remove it from the heat and cool it completely by placing it in the refrigerater or placing pan in an ice bath and stirring until cooled.
In another bowl, beat the shortening, salt, butter, sugar, and vanilla together until fluffy.
When the cooked mixture is cooled, gradually add it to the beaten mixture and continue to beat until white and fluffy.
