Description

Simple ingredients, quick to make, addictive little candy!

Similar to candy made with graham crackers or brown sugar, but this had a distinctly different taste. I make and eat enough around the holidays that I’m sick of it till the next year. :)

Ingredients

  • Saltine Crackers (enough To Line A 15x10 Pan)
  • 1 cup Real Butter
  • ½ cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup Finely Chopped Walnuts

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Line a 15×10 pan with foil (a must!) then 1 layer of saltine crackers edge to edge.
3. Melt butter and sugar in a saucepan and boil for 2 minutes until golden/caramel in color (do not let mixture become brown). Stir constantly.
4. Pour mixture immediately on top of the crackers and spread carefully without shifting the layer of crackers.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
6. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and spread carefully as they melt.
7. Sprinkle chopped walnuts evenly.
8. Place in the refrigerator until cooled.
9. Break into pieces.
10. Try not to eat the entire batch. ;)

The it guy brought this to work but it was made with heath bar chips and chocolate chips. I took these to a cookie contest in the neighborhood and won hands down, much to the dismay of the Martha Stewart wannabes. These are addictive, sweet and salty, yum, yum.

A friend made these for me as a thank you gift and my family devoured them like locusts. I’ve made them now and they couldn’t be easier or tastier. Thanks for sharing!!
