Description

These are so sweet and good, I have been making them for years to put on my Christmas trays. I do not like coatings that use an egg white to make them stick. This coating will not flake off like that does!

Ingredients

  • 4 Tablespoons Butter, Melted
  • 4 Tablespoons Light Corn Syrup
  • 4 teaspoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon, Ground
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 4 cups Pecan Halves

Preparation

1. Stir together first 5 ingredients. Add pecans, toss to coat. Spread nuts on a large jelly roll pan. (I line mine with foil so cleanup is easy. Although, since discovering Silpat mats I use that now. Nothing sticks to them! I also use it for baking sticky cookies, this way the cookie doesn’t make a sticky mess that burns onto the cookie sheet. They are a bit of an investment but so worth it.)

2. Bake for 1 hour at 250 F, stirring every 15 minutes.

3. Remove from oven. Let cool. Break apart and store in airtight container.

Yield: 8 servings of 1/2 cup each

I don’t put them on foil, I use a silpat mat, or something equivelant. Once cooled they will just peel off the rubbery mat. It’s a very cool gadget! I see Martha Stewart and others using them on TV. I finally broke down and bought a couple. I use them for all things sticky or dipped. They peel right off. I also had a recipe for cookies that has marshmallows in them. I hated to make them because they were impossible to clean off the cookie sheets. The Silpat mat also helped with that. Hope this helps.

Now, this is what I am talking about!!!! These are just as good as the other pecans on this site. I love the cinnamon in them. I’ve made several nut recipes coated in different things for open houses I have attended this year. These were by far the favorite!!!

Wow! How simple and delicious!!! Do you have a secret for getting the pecans off the foil without them breaking so much? I love this and want to have them during the holidays, but getting them off the pan was very tedious.
