This is a heavy pound cake. Great with strawberries to make strawberry shortcake. Tastes like your Grammie use to make.
Cream butter. Add sugar gradually; cream well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla.
In a separate container, combine buttermilk and baking soda. Add flour alternately with buttermilk. Batter should be smooth. Pour into a 10-inch tube pan, greased only on the bottom. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool for 10 minutes. Remove from pan.
