Pound cake that tastes like a brownie—needs nothing as a topper, but is also great with cherries or strawberries and cream.
Sift dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking powder, cocoa powder) together and set aside in a bowl.
Cream butter, shortening and sugar together. Once creamy, add eggs, one at a time, until combined. Add dry ingredients, alternating with cream, until all ingredients are mixed well. Pour into greased tube pan.
Start the cake in an cold oven and set oven temperature to 325ºF. Bake for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Check often with a toothpick (crumbs should stick to the toothpick, like brownies). You can bake this in 2 loaf pans, but reduce the cook time if you do.
