Description

Start with a boxed cake mix – end with something much better! Substitute orange juice for the water on package instructions. After cake has cooled, poke holes all around the top of cake and pour heated orange juice/brown sugar/butter. Mmmm!

Ingredients

  • 1 box White Cake Mix
  • Orange Juice (instead Of Water On Box Instructions)
  • ¾ cups Dark Brown Sugar
  • ¾ cups Orange Juice
  • ½ cups Butter
  • 9 X 12- Inch Baking Pan
  • Confectioners Sugar, For Dusting

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Prepare the white cake mix according to package instructions, with the exception of substituting orange juice for water.

Pour into a 9 x 12- inch greased baking pan.

Bake for 30 minutes or until the cake springs back when lightly touched.

Let the cake rest in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a serving dish.

While the cake cools, in a saucepan over medium heat, cook the dark brown sugar, butter and orange juice. Let the mixture just come to a boil. Remove from the heat and let it cool slightly. Meanwhile, poke several holes through the top of the cake, at least halfway down through the thickness of the cake.

Spoon over or very slowly pour the orange juice mixture over the top of the cake.

Dust the cake with confectioners’ sugar.
