Red, white and blue fruit skewers served with a chocolate dipping sauce made of chocolate, rum and vanilla.
For the sauce:
Place cream in a small saucepan and cook over low heat. When cream begins to form bubbles around the edges, remove from heat and whisk in the chopped chocolate. Continue to whisk until melted and smooth. Whisk in vanilla and rum; set aside.
For the skewers:
Thread strawberries, pound cake cubes and blueberries onto each skewer. Arrange fruit skewers on a platter and serve chocolate sauce in a bowl.
Sauce will thicken as it stands.
Note: Dipping sauce will serve about 8 people.
