Super moist banana bars with in-your-face banana flavor topped with amazing cream cheese frosting.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9×13″ baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Set aside.
In a large bowl with electric mixer, cream butter with sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time. Next, add the mashed bananas, then the sour cream.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, and baking soda then fold into the creamed ingredients. Pour batter into prepared baking dish and bake in preheated oven 35-40 minutes, until toothpick comes clean when poked into the center of the bars.
To make cream cheese frosting, cream together cream cheese and butter. Add milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar. Beat well. Frost over cooled banana bars.

NWNancy – great tip! I can imagine the maple flavoring with the banana is delicious!

These are awesome with a light, maple-flavored frosting. Just use maple syrup for the liquid in a buttercream frosting recipe, or maple flavoring.

I have a recipe almost just like this from an old church cookbook… they are wonderful! so much better than banana bread and just as easy to make.
