Description

Like an apple pie, cheesecake, and a cheese danish all rolled into one, this is an easy, impressive dessert that everyone will rave about.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE CRUST:
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla
  • ¾ cups Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Water, If Needed
  • FOR THE CHEESE FILLING:
  • 8 ounces, weight Softened Cream Cheese
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons Lemon Zest (the Zest Of About 1 Lemon)
  • FOR THE FRUIT AND NUT FILLING:
  • ⅔ cups Chopped Pecans (or Walnuts)
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 2 whole Large Apples, Peeled And Thinly Sliced
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • 1-½ Tablespoon Sugar

Preparation

Lightly grease an 8-inch springform pan. Preheat the oven to 400ºF.

For the crust:
Throw all the crust ingredients into a food processor and pulse until combined. If it looks a little dry, add a couple teaspoons of cold water and pulse. Press into the pan, making a 1-inch rim. Bake 15 minutes, remove from the oven, and set aside. Lower the oven temperature to 375ºF.

For the cheese filling:
Beat together the cream cheese, sugar, salt, egg, vanilla, and lemon zest until smooth.

For the fruit and nut filling:
In a small bowl, stir together the nuts and honey until all the nuts are coated. Toss the apple slices with the lemon juice, spices, and sugar.

To assemble:
Spread the cream cheese filling over the tart crust. Sprinkle the nuts over the cheese in an even layer. Place the apple slices on top in an even layer.

Bake for 50-55 minutes at 375ºF, until the apples are tender and golden.
