Description

Think blondies … but apple cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ¼ cups Butter, Melted
  • ½ cups Packed Light Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups White Sugar
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • ½ cups Chopped Granny Smith Apple (approximately 1/2 Apple)
  • _____
  • FOR THE CINNAMON SUGAR:
  • 2 Tablespoons White Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×9 inch pan.
2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon; set aside.
3. In a large bowl, mix together melted butter, brown sugar, and 1/2 cup of white sugar with a wooden spoon until smooth. Stir in the egg and vanilla.
4. Blend in the flour mixture until just combined, then stir in the apples. It will have a weird consistency and you won’t think this is gonna work.
5. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared pan. You’ll still feel uneasy about in because it won’t spread well.
6. In a small bowl, stir together the remaining cinnamon and sugar; sprinkle over the top of the bars.
7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven until nice and brown (goldeny? The cinnamon makes in hard to tell but they will spring back when lightly touched).
8. Cool in the pan, and cut into squares.

How could you go wrong with apples and cinnamon? This recipe was delicious and so easy! I plan on making it again and again, though next time I plan on adding more apples.

Way too sweet. Didn’t like the texture they are a bit mushy. however my biggest problem is the amount of sugar in them!

These were really good , especially fresh!
a few things:
the batter is weird! i had to press mine into the pan, lol
next time i will shorten cooking time when using a toaster oven.. it burned at 25 min for me
and i will press apples into the batter when it is in the pan (and perhaps use a smaller pan)
i did find that there was too much cinnamon sugar on top for my liking (personal preference!)

These are the bomb! My niece Sidney (very fussy eater and claims strawberries are her favourite food ever) said: “these are better than Strawberries!”

’nuff said – go make these now!

These were a hit! The author was correct in saying the batter seems strange. You WILL want to add stuff, but don’t!! I wanted to add more than 1/2 cup of apples, but I didn’t and they were delicious! I barely got one at church potluck!
