It started with ordering some vanilla sugar for my sister and then realizing I could have made a ton more for Christmas gifts if I would have just made it myself. And so I did.
This is good for baking, on the rim of cocktails or sprinkled into coffee or oatmeal.
Add one or two vanilla beans to a container of sugar and let sit for a couple of weeks. The sugar will start to taste like vanilla sugar.
Use it in desserts, coffee or on the rim of cocktails.
Or if you need your sugar quickly, up the number of beans to 5, then:
– Cut vanilla beans in 4 parts and split them in two
– Put the beans and sugar into a coffee mill or grinder
– Grind for a few minutes
– Strain with a fine sieve
– Mix with the other cup of sugar
– Enjoy

I love this i use golden sugar and it is delish, also nice for a present is to colour the sugar that way you can layer it in a lovely kilner jar and it then looks great on cocktail glasses!
