Homemade creamy tahini recipe from scratch. Make it at home for a fraction of the price that you pay for a jar of tahini at the store.
1. Place sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat, stirring frequently with a wooden spoon. Toast the seeds until fragrant, about 4–5 minutes.
2. Transfer the toasted sesame seeds to a large plate or tray and let cool completely.
3. Place the sesame seeds in a food processor and process for 2 to 3 minutes until the seeds are crumbly.
4. Add oil, 2 tablespoons at a time, to the food processor and process for 1 to 2 minutes, scraping down the sides as necessary. Process until the mixture forms a thick and fairly smooth paste.
5. Transfer tahini to a jar or airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
