To go with the baked egg rolls – or it is delicious on a stir-fry!
Whisk together vinegar, sugar, ketchup, soy sauce, and pepper flakes. Bring to a boil. In a separate bowl mix together cornstarch and water. Stir until there are no lumps. Add cornstarch/water to sauce whisking constantly until sauce begins to thicken. Sauce will thicken more upon cooling.

This was the best homemade sweet and sour sauce I’ve ever made! My husband licked out the bowl after I poured it in the pan. I used honey instead of brown sugar and I only had white wine vinegar so I used that too. I made about three times the recipe because it didn’t look like enough for my stir fry, and that worked perfect. Thanks for sharing!

Sounds good. Here’s another that a Chinese friend told me. Mix equal parts of vinegar (your choice) and apricot jam. Pretty good and way easy.

I will try this next time I have eggrolls. I would love to make my own sweet and sour sauce. Saves having another bottle of something stuffed in the refrigerator door or being disappointed because that bottle isn’t there.
