Description

I love applesauce and this is so easy to make, we have it on hand at all times.

Ingredients

  • 8 whole Large Apples, A Mix Of Sweet And Tart Varieties, Peeled And Sliced
  • ½ cups Water
  • ¼ cups Lemon Juice
  • 1-½ teaspoon Cinnamon, Divided
  • ¼ teaspoons Nutmeg, Plus A Dash
  • 8 teaspoons Packed Brown Sugar, Plus 1 Tablespoon, Divided
  • 1-½ cup Dried Cranberries
  • ½ teaspoons Apple Pie Seasoning

Preparation

I use a electric steamer. If you don’t have one, just make this in a heavy large nonstick saucepan.

Add apples, water, lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg, 1 tablespoon brown sugar and cranberries. Mix. Cook for about 45 minutes or till chunky and tender but not mushy.

Add the remaining brown sugar, remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, and apple pie seasoning. Mix well.

Serve hot or cold.

Notes:
If apple sauce is too tart, add more brown sugar.
I use 8-10 apples.
