Description

These are so good on any beef dish such as roast beef sandwiches, hamburgers or cheeseburgers. A family favorite.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Lightly Salted Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Canola Oil
  • 4 whole Large Vidalia White Onions, Sliced Thinly
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Or Sea Salt
  • 1-¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 12 ounces, fluid Coca-Cola (soft Drink)

Preparation

In a 10-inch or 12-inch skillet, add butter and oil and heat on medium high heat. Once melted and sliced onions, stir and add salt, pepper and cumin. Cook for 20 minutes stirring during cooking time. The onions should have a nice brown color at that point. Then add the cola (it will de-glaze the skillet and add a wonderful flavor). Continue to cook an additional 10 minutes.

We love these onions on grilled hamburgers. Hope you will enjoy!

Hi Jeannie39, Oh my I am so sorry that the house continued to smell of onions for a few days?! I am happy though in spite of that, they went together well with your drip beef on rolls! Thank you for taking the time to make the recipe and review for me. Best Regards, Cheryl. Psssst.Maybe for me and the many times I have made them I also was baking with Citrus and that must have cut down on inside onion odor?! An idea for next time if you should decide to make them again-bake some type of citrus dessert-Lemon is my go to in cupcakes, or sheet pan cake. Thanks again.
