Description

Buh-bye peanuts, hello tahini! I love Malaysian-style peanut sauce but with allergies in the family, I needed to figure out an alternative. This sweet sauce has just a bit of kick and is great for dipping! You can use it as a marinade or thin it out to use as a salad dressing! Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • ¼ cups Finely Chopped Onion
  • ¼ cups Packed Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups Tahini Paste
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Lime Juice
  • 2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Coriander
  • ½ teaspoons Turmeric
  • ¼ cups Hot Water

Preparation

1. Finely chop (or puree) your onions and add to your mixing bowl.

2. Add the remaining ingredients except for the hot water.

3. Whisk all your ingredients together.

4. Once all the spices and sauces are combined, check the consistency.

5. Add the hot water a little bit at a time, to reach a consistency that you like. I suggest keeping it thick (like ketchup) for dips and marinades. If you want to use it as a dressing, add more water and an additional teaspoon of lime juice.

6. Serve right away with any sort of grilled meat, kebabs or green salad.

This sauce can be made ahead of time and lasts in the refrigerator for up to a week.
