Description

I have to credit my mother-in-law, Lois Vollmer, for this recipe, which was passed down from her mother.

This is the best pasta sauce in the world for parents with young children who object to meats or veggies in their sauces. Scratch-made, easy, and versatile: use it for lasagnas, chicken parmesan, meatball subs, etc.

You could even take this recipe camping! Put the dry ingredients in a small ziptop bag.

Ingredients

  • 1 can 28 Oz Crushed Tomatoes
  • 2 cans 6 Oz. Cans Plain Tomato Paste
  • 24 ounces, fluid Water (use The Tomato Paste Can 4 Times)
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 pinch Kosher Salt
  • 1 pinch Garlic Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Fresh Oregano (or Half That Amount If Using Dried Oregano)

Preparation

Combine all ingredients in a large sauce pot and whisk together well to break up the tomato paste. Allow to come to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to a simmer and allow to simmer uncovered for 2 hours.

I recommend a screen on top to minimize mess . . . as the sauce thickens up the breaking bubbles tend to splatter.

Serve – use it for lasagnas, chicken parmesan, meatball subs, etc.

Just love when something is easy and tastes yummy too! I used some minced garlic because I was out of garlic salt. Thanks for the share!

This is the best sauce I have had in forever. It is very easy to make and the flavor is something both adults and kids would love.
