Super tasty! Super easy!
Add to sparkling water over ice for a refreshing beverage—spiked with vodka, even better! Wonderful drizzled over vanilla ice cream with sugared basil leaves. Sublime as a glaze for pound cake!
Place torn basil leaves in a heat-proof bowl.
Heat sugar and lemon juice in a saucepan on medium heat, stirring occasionally until mixture boils. Remove from heat and pour over the basil. Cover and allow to steep for 1 hour. Strain and refrigerate until ready to use.
For more intense flavor, refrigerate overnight before straining.
