My mom was visiting recently and made a beautiful German apple cake. Fortunately for me, there were leftover cinnamon sugar apples. As delicious as cinnamon toast is, I thought apples would take it to the next level, and I was so, so right. Not to mention this dish totally looks far fancier than it really is, making it perfect to serve to guests this holiday season!
Set oven on broil.
Spread butter over 1 side of each slice of bread.
Toss apple slices with cinnamon and sugar. Layer apples on top of the toast. Top with more sugar, if desired.
Broil for 2–3 minutes or until bread is toasted and sugar is caramelized.
