Description

These taste – and look – just like Snickerdoodle cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 2 sticks Unsalted Butter
  • ½ cups Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 2-¼ cups All-purpose Flour
  • ¾ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ¾ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • ¾ teaspoons Cream Of Tartar
  • ¾ teaspoons Freshly Grated Nutmeg
  • 1-¼ cup Sour Cream

Preparation

Mix together 1 cup sugar and 1 Tbsp cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a muffin pan or use paper muffin cups.

Cream the butter and 1/2 cup sugar until soft, about 3 to 5 minutes. Add in the vanilla. Add in the eggs one at a time and mix until well incorporated.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cream of tartar and nutmeg.

Add the flour mixture and the sour cream alternately to the egg-butter mixture in multiple additions. Start with the flour and end with the flour. Scrape the bowl occasionally.

Using an ice cream scoop, scoop out muffin batter one at a time and drop into the bowl filled with the cinnamon sugar mixture. Roll the muffin around in the mixture until it is covered completely in cinnamon sugar.

Place muffin into muffin tin. Depending on the size of your tins, you should get about 14 to 18 muffins. Bake them for approximately 20-22 minutes or until they are golden brown.

I made these for a road trip. They were smashed to bits en route and still my family fought over the crumbs! I will be making these a part of my regular baking. Thanks for sharing.

A bit finicky to make, but the results were worth the effort. My boyfriend raved about them, so I’ll be making them again.

I had to butter my hands to keep the dough from sticking to my fingers.

These were amazing–the sour cream gives it a great texture. Cinnamon-y and great!

Very yummy muffins. I made these last night and they were good. I will say that it was difficult handling the dough in the cinnamon/sugar mixture though. Next time I will probably do what Ms. Barrows did and refrigerate the dough so it’s not so soft when it gets that coating. Very light and fluffy muffin though!

I made these for the teachers on the first day of school and they were a hit! The teachers raved about them. I had one fresh out of the oven and it was delicious!

Great idea, but these came out dry and very dense. Had tons of topping left. Husband loves snickerdoodles, but he said these were “ok”.

Snickerdoodles are my favorite cookie so I couldn’t wait to try these. I made them for a potluck at work and everyone loved them! I’ve also had two guy friends of mine begging for a batch of them and I’m making some this weekend for them (and for me!)…
