Description

My mother-in-law gave me this recipe over 30 years ago. Our kids loved this bread when they were growing up and I made it often. I have added many different things to it through the years to change it up a bit: peanut butter, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, raisins, an array of different nuts. I have basically abused this recipe, but in spite of it all, it has never complained or failed me. It must be the cream cheese.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces, weight Cream Cheese
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Mashed Banana
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 2 cups Baking Mix (i.e. Bisquick)
  • ½ cups Chopped Nuts

Preparation

In a medium mixing bowl, mix the cream cheese and sugar together until well blended. Add the bananas and eggs and mix until well blended. Fold in baking mix and nuts until smooth.

Pour into a well greased or sprayed loaf pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes.

To be honest, I throw all of these ingredients in my KitchenAid and mix it all until it is smooth, about a minute or so. It has never let me down!

Ok, I was gonna post a picture but my family devoured it before I had the chance. My new favorite banana bread recipe. The cream cheese gives it a really nice richness and the texture? Divine! Be sure to use a BIG loaf pan or a couple smaller ones cuz this makes a large loaf. Yippee!

For years I’d used another banana bread recipe that called for bisquick. Not anymore! This is fantastic. I chopped up some peanut butter chips and subbed them for the nuts. Beyond delicious!

Love it!! Texture is fantastic, and the cream cheese gives a flavor that is definately a notch above standard banana bread. This is my new favorite.

This recipe was so easy! My son had to bring a bread to school for the thanksgiving feast. we made this bread and it was a hit with the grade schoolers. we used the chocolate chip/peanut butter chip idea. wonderful! moist and delicious! thanks for sharing…definitely a keeper.

Very tasty. The cream cheese made it a little more dense than I prefer quick breads, but it also helped keep the cake moist through the weekend.

SO yummy! I made this tonight and it was fabulous. I used chocolate chips instead of nuts and sprinkled the top with some brown sugar and cinnamon for a crumb type topping. I would have never thought to put cream cheese in banana bread! It’s almost like a cake.
