Description

Southern cornbread with enough sugar to make it feel like home. Serve in a cast iron skillet next to chili to warm up these cold winter months.

Ingredients

  • 1-¼ cup Flour
  • ¾ cups Cornmeal
  • ¼ cups Heaping, Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ¼ cups Canola Or Vegetable Oil
  • 1 whole Egg

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Grease a 10-inch cast iron pan, or a 9″ by 9″ square baking dish with butter.

Mix all ingredients just until combined. Do not over-mix. Pour batter into the prepared dish and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Serve with butter and honey.

This is the perfect cornbread recipe! Just the right amount of sweetness! So yummy warmed up with a glass of milk after everyone else went to bed! I’ll never buy the boxed stuff again!

This is a really great cornbread recipe! My first attempt and it was delicious, moist and sweet but not too sweet. Thanks!

This is great cornbread! Just the right amount of sweetness and I know what’s in it, unlike the box stuff!
