Description

Whole cloves of roasted garlic are a wonderful surprise in these delightful dinner rolls!

Ingredients

  • 2 packages (7g Packet) Rapid-rise Yeast
  • 2 cups Warm Water
  • ¼ cups Sugar (or A Pinch More To Taste)
  • ½ cups Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Salt (or Less If You Are Salt-conscious)
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 5-½ cups Flour
  • 2 heads Roasted Garlic, Peeled
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter, Melted (more If Needed)
  • 2 pinches Kosher Salt

Preparation

Mix water and yeast, stir until yeast dissolves. Add sugar, oil, salt and garlic powder. Stir in flour and let rise once. Knead the dough and fold garlic cloves into it (this is tricky, because they like to slip out—don’t worry about it being perfect, just get them in there!).

Spray a cast iron skillet with cooking spray, or coat with olive oil. Shape dough into 6 equal-sized balls and place them in the skillet, leaving equal space between them. Let rise again (cover with a moist towel if you’d like, to prevent the dough from drying out).

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

After rising, brush rolls with melted butter. Sprinkle on a little kosher salt and brush with additional butter. Sprinkle more garlic powder on top and bake for 15-20 minutes until the tops are golden brown.

Brush with even MORE butter before serving! Mmm!

To roast garlic, set your oven to 425º, chop off the top part of the head of garlic (so each clove is a little exposed), drizzle with olive oil, then wrap in aluminum foil. Put the whole pouch in the oven for about 45 minutes to an hour (check on it after 45min), and you should have golden, soft garlic! And your house will smell HEAVENLY!!

These sound delicious. I have not baked a lot of bread, but am wanting to try my hand at it. They sound very yummy. What is the best way to roast garlic?

I have made these numerous times for family and friends. Always a hit! After the first few times I did realize I REALLY needed to make them smaller. Very easy to make and will continue to do so!

I made these this weekend, and they were great. I was afraid at first, bc I have never made recipes using yeast. Well, they turned out delicious. The only thing I would do different is to make the rolls smaller. I will definitely make these again.

I made these last night and they are DELICIOUS! I didn’t have a cast iron skillet so I baked them on a cookie sheet…they needed to bake a little longer, but came out great. I see these rolls becoming part of my weekly rotation!
