Description

These baked doughnuts taste just like the Dunkin’ Doughnuts classic!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Flour
  • ⅓ cups Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Cold Butter
  • ½ cups Buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 Tablespoon Milk (for Glaze)
  • ½ cups Powdered Sugar (for Glaze)
  • Optional Garnish: Candy Sprinkles

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350F.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cut the butter into small pieces and work it into the dry ingredients with your fingertips, until the mixture looks like sand. Set aside.

In a small bowl, mix together the buttermilk, vanilla and egg. Pour into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Pipe into a greased doughnut pan using a pastry bag or plastic bag and bake for 15 minutes.

Let cool while you mix together glaze ingredients (milk and powdered sugar). Drizzle glaze over doughnuts and top with rainbow sprinkles.

I made these this morning even though I don’t have a doughnut pan. I improvised and used my sugar skull pan instead. My daughter thought they were cute and then she tasted them. Not only did she eat the rest of her breakfast but she had two doughnuts as well. My husband loved them saying they had just the right amount of sweetness to them and had that old fashioned homemade taste he loved…..thank you for sharing this recipe! Will definitely make again.
