Looking for an easy yeast bread to make with your soup dinner? This one bakes in an 8×8 pan and is ready in less than an hour!
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Combine flour, sugar, yeast and salt in a large bowl and mix together.
In a smaller bowl, mix together the milk (should be warm to the touch but not hot), oil, and beaten egg.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until well-incorporated. It should be the consistency of cake batter.
Pour bread mixture into a well-grease 8×8″ glass dish. If using a metal dish, turn oven down to 375°. Set the pan aside, covered with a dish towel, and let the dough rise for 15 to 20 minutes.
Bake bread for 20 minutes, or until it reaches a deep golden brown. Check for doneness by inserting a butter knife into the middle. If it comes out clean, the bread is done. Slice into 12 delicious squares and enjoy!
