Description

This is much better than a boxed mix, and it is very easy to throw together. The best part is that this cornbread is sooo delicious!

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Melted Butter
  • ⅔ cups Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 1 cup Cornmeal
  • 1 cup Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Salt

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a bowl, mix together the melted butter and sugar. Add in the eggs, combining until well blended. Stir in baking soda and buttermilk and mix well. Stir in cornmeal, flour and salt and mix until there are hardly any lumps left in the batter. Pour into a greased 8″x8″ baking dish. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve.

Easy and quite tasty…my kind of recipe!! I doubled the recipe(church dinner) and used a 9 x 13 pan and baked for approximately 43-45 minutes.

This was really great, my favorite so far of all the cornbread recipes I’ve tried- and there have been many.

I thought I had overcooked it just a few minutes, but the crispy brown edges turned out to be my favorite part.

This was fantastic! I used a gluten free flour to make it gluten free and it was delicious. Our cornmeal is pretty coarse and it made for a very hearty cornbread. Will make again, thank you!

My family and I always have cornbread (from a box…) with chilli. The other night, we had homemade chilli so to mix it up I wanted to make homemade cornbread! I had leftover buttermilk from another recipe so I just had to try your recipe. It turned out amazing and was incredibly easy to make! I love how moist and flavorful it is.
