Description

Warm flaky biscuits topped with vanilla honey flavored butter. You’ll love these!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BISCUITS:
  • 1-¾ cup Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 2-½ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 6 Tablespoons Cold Unsalted Butter, Cubed
  • ¾ cups Cold Milk
  • FOR THE VANILLA HONEY BUTTER:
  • 1 whole Vanilla Bean, Split In Half Lengthwise
  • ½ sticks Salted Butter, Softened
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey

Preparation

For the biscuits:
Start by preheating the oven to 450 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Combine the dry ingredients (flour through baking powder) in a large bowl. Add cold butter and cut it in with a pastry blender until the butter is broken down into pea size pieces. Then add milk to the bowl. Start with ½ cup and add more as needed to form a well combined, slightly sticky dough.

Lightly flour a board and turn the dough out onto it. Knead the dough just until it comes together. Roll to a thickness of ½ to ¾ inch. Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits. Press down and twist lightly to make clean cuts. Re-roll the scraps to make more biscuits until you’ve used up all the dough.

Transfer the cut biscuits to the lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

To make the vanilla honey butter, scrape the caviar out from the inside of the vanilla bean. Put the butter into a small bowl. Add the caviar to the softened butter, along with the honey. Mix until well combined. Serve on top of warm biscuits.

The biscuits baked up nice and tender – I got 9 using a 2 3/4 inch cutter. One reason I like the recipe is it makes a smaller amount. The vanilla honey butter had a nice flavor but doesn’t make enough for all the biscuits so I would double that if you want enough for all!
I only put 2 teaspoons of sugar in mine.
