Description

These quick, easy rolls are perfect for those times you only need a dozen rolls!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 package Active Dry Yeast (1/4 Oz. Packet)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • Melted Butter

Preparation

In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, sugar, yeast and salt. In a saucepan, heat water and butter to 120°-130°. Add to the dry ingredients; beat until blended. Add egg; beat on low speed for 30 seconds, then on high for 3 minutes. Stir in remaining flour (batter will be stiff). Do not knead. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes.

Stir dough down. Fill a greased muffin cup half full. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 4 minutes.

Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 1 minute before removing from the pan to a wire rack. Brush tops with melted butter.

These are super easy, quick (for a yeast roll) and delicious. This recipe is definitely a keeper.

I gave this recipe a try to see if I could finally make a successful batch of dinner rolls. YAY! They are so easy, and taste just amazing. I also used half whole wheat (fresh ground) in another batch and again, perfect. I’ll be making approx. 60 today for Christmas weekend!

My “go to” recipe for quick dinner rolls. Easy and tasty. The only thing in the recipe I question is saying to “cover and let rise until double, about 4 minutes.” 30 – 45 minutes is more reasonable.

My rolls did not rise like described in the recipe, but they still tasted great. They were quick and easy to make (for a yeast roll), but were quite dense and heavy since they did not rise much. Mine also came out looking strange because when I filled the muffin cups I spooned the batter in much like you would a muffin mix, but they were stiff enough that they did not reshape. Next time I will roll them into balls before putting them into the muffin tin. Great taste, though!
