Description

Buttery, perfect bread sticks. A great reason to make spaghetti for dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1-½ cup Warm Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Yeast
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 3-¼ cups Flour
  • ½ cups Melted Butter
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Seasoning Salt

Preparation

Dissolve sugar into warm water. Sprinkle yeast over top, cover with a tea towel and let sit for 10 minutes until foamy. Stir in the salt, then the flour. Knead the dough for 5 to 8 minutes until it is soft and elastic; add more flour if needed so it is not sticky. Shape into a ball, put in a greased bowl and spray the top with oil (I use Pam). Cover with a towel and let rise until doubled in size. Punch down, and let rise again.

Spread 1/2 of the melted butter into the bottom of a 9 x 12 baking pan (sometimes I cannot fit it all into one pan, so I use 2 pans).

Roll into a rectangle and cut it into 3/4 inch wide strips (using the short side of the rectangle). Twist 2 strips together to make each bread stick; place in the buttered pan. Drizzle the rest of the butter over the top. Sprinkle with parmesan and seasoning salt. (Salsa on top is good too, or sesame or poppy seeds).

Bake at 375 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes until golden on the edges.

These are so delicious! We made half with parm and italian seasoning and the other half with cinnamon sugar. They are very easy to make and turn out absolutely fantastic! We’ll be making these again!

I tried this recipe today, but instead of bread sticks, I made the recipe into a sandwich loaf and OOOH MY! It is delish! I don’t usually have much success with bread making, but this was very easy and will be my go to recipe from now on.

I made these tonight, yummy and easy. They were a big hit with my daughter. I used garlic powder and kosher salt instead of season salt because I firmly believe in garlic!!

These bread sticks are GREAT!! I started the dough in my bread maker on the dough setting and allowed them to rise. Then I just rolled them out, cut and twisted them, and baked them to perfection! My husband was WAY impressed with the flavor and texture!

This is the best and easiest “base” recipe I have ever tried. I did not make the actual bread sticks because I didn’t have the time to roll it all out with youngins at my feet, but I did split the dough and put it into a couple loaf pans and baked for the time specified. Once out of the oven, I doused in melted butter (1/2 stick), covered with a towel and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Good grief this bread was delicious!!! I couldn’t stop eating it! I will have to try rolling out the bread sticks when I have the time, but I wanted to make sure this recipe had a good rating. Thank you serinda!!! I will definitely be making this quite often :)
