Description

Ooey gooey pizza rolls. Come to momma.

Ingredients

  • ½ pounds Pizza Dough (I Used My Fail-proof Pizza Dough From My Recipe Box)
  • ½ cups Pizza Sauce
  • 1-½ cup Grated Mozzarella Cheese
  • 9 slices Salami
  • 7 slices Deli Honey Ham
  • 1 whole Egg, Beaten
  • Dried Parsley And Parmesan Cheese (optional)
  • Extra Pizza Sauce For Dipping (optional)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 500ºF. Line a large rimmed cookie sheet with parchment or spray lightly with nonstick cooking spray.

Spread pizza dough out on baking sheet to approximately 10×16 size. Spread pizza sauce over 2/3 of the dough lengthwise, leaving a 3×16 rectangle of plain dough along one of the edges. Top sauce with half the grated cheese, salami and ham. Top with remaining cheese.

Brush the plain strip of dough with the egg. Fold in the sides about an inch and brush them with egg. Roll up like a jelly roll lengthwise, starting along the long edge of dough topped with all the fillings and ending with the plain strip of dough on the bottom of the roll. Brush the entire stromboli with egg and gently cut slats in the top of the dough every 1-2 inches.

Sprinkle parsley and cheese over top and bake 8-10 minutes or until bubbly and golden. Remove from oven, cool 5 minutes and slice into pieces. Serve with more pizza sauce.

I guess I should have read the directions more carefully and used parchment instead of foil!!

I’ve made this twice now, and both times are still yummy. However, I’m having trouble burning the bottom! Both times I have used foil on the bottom, and each time the stromboli burns. Everything else tastes great, any suggestions? :)

I made this last night to use in lunches this week. Oh course, I can’t leave things alone, ha ha! So I used our partial wheat pizza dough and homemade sauce. In the past I could not get it to come out right… turns out it was simply in the way I was forming it. Using your technique it came out and great! The guys had a “sample” last night and asked me to start making this on a regular basis. Thank you so very much because now I have something different to pack in lunches!! (and I can package it up the night before!!)

Just made this… super easy and really, really tasty. I just used cheese, marinara sauce, and pepperoni for my filling and it was yummy! The bottom of mine burned, so I think next time I won’t grease my pan!
