Description

You can make it as hot and spicy as you want. This is a real crowd pleaser!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Crawfish, Roughly Chopped
  • 1 stick Butter
  • 1 whole Large Chopped Onion
  • 1 whole Chopped Green Bell Pepper
  • ¼ teaspoons Garlic Powder (or 2 Cloves Minced)
  • 1 Tablespoon Chopped Parsley, Or More As Needed
  • Fresh Ground Black Pepper To Taste
  • 6 drops Hot Sauce, Or More To Taste
  • Cajun Seasoning To Taste
  • ½ cups Italian Blend Shredded Cheese, Plus Extra For Sprinkling
  • 8 ounces, weight Philadelphia Cream Cheese
  • Buttered Bread Crumbs, For Topping

Preparation

In a large saucepan, melt butter, then add onion and pepper. Sauté on a medium-low fire until soft. Add everything else (except cream cheese and bread crumbs) and cook, stirring frequently, for about 10 minutes.

Cut cream cheese in about 8 chunks and add. Fold mixture to allow cheese to blend in well. Taste and add seasoning as needed. Pour into a pie plate and sprinkle with additional shredded cheese. Add buttered bread crumbs to the top and baked in a 350º oven until browned.

Serve with your favorite dip crackers or toast. Makes about 3 cups.

Note: if using crawfish from the store, add about a 1/4 teaspoon crab boil.
