Warm and gooey – makes a great topping for homemade pancakes.
Whisk together sugar, cocoa and flour in a small bowl. Place water and butter in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Whisk in dry ingredients and allow to boil for a few minutes until the desired consistancy is reached. Remove from heat and whisk in vanilla extract. Serve!

my mother’s mother passed away today, and this is EXACTLY what she made at Christmas breakfast every year since before i can remember. we ate it over biscuits. i made it this morning, and i’ve been eating it all day. thank you so much for posting this. (everybody else’s recipes seem to involve lots of flour and milk, and end up with a pale chocolate pudding-like substance. ick.)
