Instead of going out and buying a box of cake mix and a tub of frosting you can make this family favorite at home. It’s easy to make it seasonal too.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F).
Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl. Add butter and sugar to another bowl and beat until creamy. Add eggs and egg whites one at a time, beating on low. Add extracts, beat another minute. To the creamed mixture, alternate adding the dry ingredients and the 1 cup milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir in the sprinkles. Pour the batter into a greased and floured sheet pan.
Bake for 17-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Cool on wire racks.
Beat one stick of butter until creamy. Add 4 cups powdered sugar, 1/8 cup of milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Beat a few more minutes. For stiffer frosting, add more powdered sugar. For thinner frosting, add more milk. Once the cake is cool frost it and top with more sprinkles.

Do you use food coloring to get the color for the icing?
