Description

My incredible friend Jo Ann brought this cake into my life and it has never been the same since. I love strawberry cake. I love Hugh Jackman. I decreed that from that day forward this cake would be called Hugh Jackman. (We like to name our favorite cakes in my circle of friends. Weird, I know, but it works for us!)

Ingredients

  • 1 box (18.25 Oz. Box) Strawberry Cake Mix, Prepared
  • Additional Required Ingredients Specified In Mix Package (typically Water, Eggs And Oil)
  • 1 tub (16 Oz. Container) Sliced Strawberries In Syrup, Thawed
  • 1 box Vanilla Instant Pudding (3.4 Oz)
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 tub Cool Whip (8 Oz)
  • 1 pint Fresh Strawberries, Sliced, For Garnish

Preparation

Prepare one box of strawberry cake mix according to the directions on the box (you’ll typically need water, eggs, and oil, as directed in mix package). Or, prepare your favorite homemade strawberry cake if you’re an over-achiever. Allow cake to totally cool.

Puree the thawed sliced strawberries in syrup. Poke holes into the cake with the handle end of a wooden spoon. (Large holes in cake = more yummy strawberry goodness!) Pour pureed strawberries over the cake and spread evenly. Let the cake set overnight in refrigerator.

The next day, combine the unprepared instant pudding mix with milk in a large bowl. Fold in the Cool Whip. Spread this heavenly mixture over your cake. Top the cake with fresh sliced strawberries … the more the better!

Enjoy and see for yourself why this cake is named after the super-yummy Mr. Hugh Jackman!

I love that you are called Mrs. Boss and your cake is Hugh Jackman, such a nice homage to Australia the movie. Thanks for the recipe!
