A moist delicious dessert. Great with vanilla bean ice cream.
Mix shortening and butter. Add sugar a little at a time; cream together. Add 1 egg at a time, mixing after each egg. Sift salt and baking powder with flour. Sift flour in a little at a time. Mix, continuing to add flour. After you have mixed in all the flour, add the milk and flavorings. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 18 minutes in a greased and floured pound cake can. Do not open the oven door until baked all the way.
