Moist, delicious Red Velvet Cake.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Premix water, food coloring and buttermilk. Set aside. Combine sugar, shortening, flour, cocoa and salt. Add milk mixture. Beat until well blended. Add eggs one at a time, beating mixture in between. Add vanilla. Beat for 1 minute.
Mix vinegar and baking soda together. Add to the batter and mix BY HAND (do not beat anymore).
Bake in two 9-inch round pans (that have been greased and floured) for 30 minutes.
Use Red Velvet Frosting To Die For (recipe posted here at Tasty Kitchen) to cover.
