Description

This recipe seems to be a favorite in our Church group. It’s a very moist, yummy cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Oatmeal
  • 1-½ cup Boiling Water
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup White Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1-½ cup Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda

  • FOR THE TOPPING:
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ¼ cups Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups Chocolate Chips

Preparation

Mix oatmeal and boiling water in a bowl; seat aside to cool. Mix sugars, eggs, oil and vanilla till smooth. Add flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Mix well. Fold in oatmeal mixture.

Pour into a greased 9 x 13 pan. For the topping, mix cinnamon and brown sugar; sprinkle over the cake and top with chocolate chips. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
