Description

Pretty candy to have sitting around the house when family and friends come to visit. You can use red color in half the batch and green color in the other half to make a festive display.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Confectioners Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter, Room Temperature
  • 2 Tablespoons Crisco Shortening
  • 3 Tablespoons Warm Water
  • Flavoring Of Choice
  • Food Coloring Of Choice

Preparation

Add sugar, butter, crisco and water to mixing bowl. Beat at high speed until well combined.

At this point, you can divide into 2 bowls and make 2 flavors or simply add color and flavor of choice into the 1 bowl.

For a whole batch, add 1 teaspoon of Oil of Peppermint and as much red food color as you need for the color. Or add 1 teaspoon of Oil of Wintergreen and green food color. Or do half and half. In this case, split the mixture into two bowls and just add 1/2 teaspoon of flavoring to each bowl.

Mix well. Roll into “snakes” the size you want. Cut into bite-size pieces and let dry uncovered.
