Description

A peanut butter infused crumb topping adds a great flavor boost to traditional apple crisp!

Ingredients

  • 5  Large Apples, Diced
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ¾ cups Granulated Sugar Substitute
  • ¼ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • ⅛ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice, If Needed (See Note)
  • FOR THE TOPPING:
  • 1-½ cup Quick Oats
  • ½ cups White Whole Wheat Flour
  • ¼ cups Granulated Sugar Substitute
  • ¼ cups Brown Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ cups No-stir Natural Creamy Peanut Butter
  • ¼ cups Butter, Softened

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Lightly spray a 9-inch pie plate or an 8×8 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
2. In a large bowl, toss together the apples, cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.
3. For the topping, in a medium-sized bowl stir together, oats, flour, sugar substitute, brown sugar, and salt until well-combined. Cut in peanut butter and butter with a fork until mixture is in pea-sized crumbs.
4. Pour apples into pie dish. Sprinkle oat topping on top.
5. Bake for 20 minutes. Cover the top of crisp with aluminum foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes or until filling starts to bubble.
6. Allow crisp to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
7. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.

Note: If your apple mixture still looks dry by the time you are done with the topping, you may want to add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
