White Boy Tacos are now renamed to White Girl Tacos. How many of you grew up eating the Ortega family packs for taco night? Have you ever hit the border for those hard shell tacos at Taco Bell? While shopping at Trader Joe’s I came across taco shells made with organic stone ground yellow corn for $1.99 (12 shells). Thanks, Trader Joe’s, for the giving me this brilliant recipe idea for a budget Cinco de Mayo party.
Preheat the oven to 425°F.
In a skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the onions and cook for about 3-5 minutes or until soft and lightly browned around the edges. Stir in garlic and spices. Cook for 30 seconds. Add the ground beef and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring with a wooden spoon to break the meat.
Place taco shells on a baking sheet and warm in the oven for 2-3 minutes. Remove the shells from the oven. Fill and spread the sour cream on the bottom of the taco shell. Next add lettuce, beef, cheese, and top with tomatoes. We topped our tacos with hot sauce. Enjoy!
