Quatro Leches cake is a hispanic dessert that is made with four different types of milk. This is an extremely moist and delicious cake and definitely a crowd pleaser.
In a large bowl pour the cake mix, milk, eggs, and vegetable oil. Whisk it all together and then pour it into a baking pan. In this recipe a 9 inch circular cake pan was used. Place the pan in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 25 minutes. Remember depending on the size of your pan will determine how long you bake it – use the cake mix package instructions for guidelines.
Once the cake is done remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then grab a skewer or anything that is long, thin, and can poke holes into the cake. Begin to poke holes all over the cake, the more you poke the better the milk will absorb.
After that pour your sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream into a bowl. Whisk it well and then begin to pour it on top of the cake slowly. It might look like too much at first but do not worry the cake will absorb all of that milk mixture. Let it sit there for 30 minutes so it completely absorbs it all.
Now you can cover it and put it in the refrigerator overnight if you want to serve it cold; or you can serve it warm after all of the milk is absorbed. Either one is fine but you have one step left which is to frost the cake with dulce de leche sauce.
When ready to serve… Flip the cake out of the pan onto a plate or cake display. It might take a while since the cake is heavy with all that milk absorbed into it. Once you have it flipped over out of the pan open up your can of dulce de leche and begin to spread it on top of the cake. Then you can add some fruit of your choice (if desired) and enjoy!
